VISIT WEBSITE
YEPP is the youth organisation of the European People's Party. It brings together 57 Centre-Right youth political organisations from 39 countries all over Europe.
WHAT THEY NEEDED
YEPP had already a website but they wanted to refresh their image on the web and also enhance and strengthen their web channels of communication.
OUR CONCEPT
We believed it was important to create a modern, social, paricipatory website. We should highlight that YEPP is a youth organization which has fresh ideas and thousands of members across Europe. What was dated and impersonal, it had to become fresh and personal.
We first focused on the design and the information architecture. We went for a clear and colourful website to represent YEPP’s freshness and multicultural background. To show YEPP’s precense all across Europe we used a map and small bubbles where the user can find information about the respective national organisation, ie we added even each one’s Facebook page.
Then we sought for ways to better connect YEPP’s members. We created a friendly mechanism to upload their news on their news blog and also we created a second blog where the members of the board can upload opinion blogposts.
For such a large organization transparency, accountability and information diffusion are very important. Thus we added a library when one can find all the documents produced by YEPP. Here again we created a mechanism which helps users to filter documents by categories and also can lead user to the respective event where the specific document was produced.
Given that mobliization is important for every party, our last task was to highlight YEPP’s past and future events. We put pictures but also we linked each event with the respective documents at the library, to attract both eyes and minds.
The result is a telling example of how, many small changes can make a big difference: visits increased by four times, but what is most importants is that the new website didn’t only attract new visitors, but also mobilized YEPP’s members to produce more content for the web. What happened was that the enhancement of the web communication increased the organization’s activity.
