Travelscopemag is the leading interactive travel magazine about Greece. It works as a trip advisor which provides information for places, sights, things todo and hotels. The website covers all the key areas and destinations in Greece, providing general information, tips about every specific area and original articles written by handpicked partners. It also contains a complete list of interesting places, like museums & galleries, archaeological sites, restaurants, etc. Finally, it offers a hotel list, to allow visitors to find easily a place to stay, giving the choices to search by a specific location and by category as well.


WHAT THEY NEEDED
As we were responsible only for the development part of the site construction, Travelscopemag asked from us to find ways to make the available information easily found and accessible. The navigation process had to be quick and pleasant.


OUR CONCEPT
We created a taxonomy for every destination which has as children articles, things todos and hotels.
Every node provides coordinates and is placed as pin on a map. Menus and breadcrumbs are non-static and all url aliases look like a directory path. We created multiple roles of content editors, in order to have a complete editing workflow.
Map works like the site menu, from where visitors can browse all the pages and read descriptions about the different places.
The website is built on drupal 6 and we have developed over 10 custom modules. It has custom integration with google maps and integration with google analytics, so that every hotel owner receives detailed information about the visits and the activity on his hotel’s page.
Regarding statistics, we can track statistics for every different page from both google analytics and facebook. For facebook statistics we use the eresus module ‘socialscore’ which we have already uploaded on drupal.org.
